What is Car Restoration?

Car restoration is the process of returning a vehicle to its original — or better than original — condition. It is not a detail or a quick respray. It is a systematic rebuild of every element of the car: bodywork, paint, interior, and often mechanical components too.

At Auto Finesse Club, we approach every restoration as a project, not a job. We inspect the car thoroughly before any work begins, document the current condition, agree a scope with the client, and work through each phase in order. Nothing is painted over. Nothing is hidden. We restore from the metal outward.

Bullets:

  • Full condition inspection and photographic documentation before work begins
  • Restoration from bare metal — not over existing filler or rust
  • Every phase agreed with the client before proceeding
  • Suitable for classic, vintage, collector and sentimental vehicles

Who is This For?

Car restoration at Auto Finesse Club is for owners who care about the result more than the timeline. Our clients bring us:

Classic and vintage cars that have sat in garages for years — needing rust removal, panel repair, full respray and interior restoration before they’re road-worthy again.

Family heirlooms — a father’s car, a grandfather’s car — where the sentimental value is irreplaceable and the owner wants it done right, not done fast.

Collector vehicles where resale or show value matters and the quality of the restoration work is visible to experts who know what to look for.

Daily drivers that have been involved in accidents or suffered years of neglect, where a full restoration brings them back to a condition better than new.

Bullets:

  • Classic and vintage cars from any era
  • Family heirloom vehicles — sentimental restorations
  • Collector and show vehicles
  • Severely neglected daily drivers

Our Car Restoration Process

01

Initial Inspection & Scope

Every restoration starts with a full inspection at our Madani Avenue studio. We assess the bodywork, paint, interior, chassis and mechanical condition. We photograph everything and produce a written scope of work with itemised costs before any work begins. Nothing proceeds without client approval.

02

Strip Down

The car is stripped to the level required for the restoration. For a full restoration this means removing trim, glass, interior components and sometimes body panels. Stripping to bare metal allows us to see exactly what we’re working with — no surprises later.

03

Rust Treatment & Panel Repair

Rust is the enemy of any restoration. We treat all rust properly — cut out, treat with specialist products, and repair structurally where needed. Filler is used only where appropriate, not as a cover-up. Damaged panels are repaired or replaced as required.

04

Body Preparation

Once the metalwork is solid, we prepare the body for paint. This includes skim where needed, multiple stages of primer, blocking and sanding to achieve a flat, straight surface before any colour is applied. This stage is where the quality of the final result is actually determined.

05

Paint & Colour

Colour matching, paint mixing and full respray in our studio environment. We use high-quality two-pack paint systems for durability and depth of finish. Multiple colour coats followed by clear coat — applied in controlled conditions to avoid contamination.

06

Reassembly & Interior

The car is reassembled in reverse order — all trim, glass, interior components and mechanical parts refitted. Interior restoration is completed at this stage — seat reupholstery, new carpets, dashboard restoration and door panel refurbishment as required by the agreed scope.

07

Final Detail & Handover

Once reassembled, the car receives a full paint correction and ceramic coating or wax finish. A final inspection is completed against the original photographic record. The car is then detailed inside and out before handover — and we only hand over when we’re satisfied with every element.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ceramic Coating

How long does a car restoration take in Dhaka?

It depends entirely on the scope of work. A partial restoration — respray only, or bodywork and paint — typically takes 3–6 weeks. A full restoration from strip-down to final handover takes 8–16 weeks depending on parts availability, the extent of rust and panel damage, and the interior scope. We agree a timeline at the inspection stage and keep you updated throughout.

How much does car restoration cost in Dhaka?

Car restoration at Auto Finesse Club is quoted based on a written scope of work agreed after a full inspection. There is no fixed price because no two restorations are the same. A partial respray restoration may start from ৳40,000–80,000. A full frame-up restoration of a vintage vehicle can reach ৳2,00,000 or more depending on condition and specification. Call 01724-766578 to discuss your vehicle and arrange an inspection.

Do I need to leave my car with you for the whole restoration?

Yes — restoration work requires the car to stay at our studio at 100 Ft, Madani Avenue throughout the project. Unlike a detail or ceramic coating which can be done in 1–2 days, a restoration involves multiple stages, drying and cure times, and reassembly. We'll agree the expected duration at the initial inspection.

Do you handle mechanical restoration as well as bodywork?

We work on any car regardless of make, model or age. Classic cars, vintage vehicles, Japanese imports, European cars, local Bangladeshi-Auto Finesse Club specialises in bodywork, paint and interior restoration. For mechanical work — engine rebuild, gearbox, suspension, electrical systems — we work with trusted mechanical partners in Dhaka and can coordinate the full project on your behalf so you have a single point of contact throughout.

What is the difference between a respray and a full restoration?

A respray is paint only — the existing panels are prepared and resprayed without stripping the car down or addressing underlying bodywork, rust or interior. A full restoration involves stripping the vehicle, treating all rust, repairing or replacing panels, rebuilding the interior, and then applying paint as the final stage. A respray can be completed in 2–3 weeks. A full restoration takes months. The right option depends on the condition of your car and what you want to achieve — we'll advise honestly at the inspection.
